The housing ladder
Tent — Grit Lake
Your first home. A sleeping bag and a stash crate on the lakeside. It is humble, but it is yours from the moment you arrive — and you can pick it up and carry it with you if you move. The tent’s stash keeps your most important items safe while you figure out the world.
RV — Grit Lake
A meaningful upgrade over the tent without leaving the lake. The RV gives you more storage capacity, a wardrobe closet for your first proper outfit collection, and a small kitchen where you can cook without needing a public station. Your first taste of home crafting.
Rented apartment — Millside
Your first real walls. A proper wardrobe, a larger stash cabinet, a full kitchen, and a front door you can lock. You pay rent for it — a recurring CASH cost that keeps you honest about earning — but the storage and comfort upgrade is substantial. This is where most players start feeling settled.
Owned property — Grit City
Your name on the deed. A walk-in wardrobe, the ability to install your own crafting stations, furniture you choose and place yourself, a trophy shelf, and a balcony with a view of the city. You pay tax rather than rent — smaller per cycle, but ongoing. Owning property is where the game opens up for serious crafters and collectors.
The penthouse — Grit Tower
The top of the ladder. The endgame statement property, visible from the lake shore where you started. It offers the most storage, the most wardrobe space, full crafting station capacity, and a level of prestige that every player in Gritlands can see. Getting here is the long game.
What a home gives you
Safe storage
Your home stash is never at risk, no matter what happens to you out in the world. It grows with each tier — the penthouse holds vastly more than the tent. Anything you cannot afford to lose goes in the stash.
Wardrobe space
Each tier unlocks more outfit slots. Clothes stored in your wardrobe take up no backpack space, so a better home means you carry your combat loadout without sacrificing your fashion. Wardrobe →
Home crafting
From the RV upward you have some crafting capability at home. Own property in the city and you can build your own stations — no shared queues, no usage fees, and the freedom to work whenever you want. Crafting →
A place to show off
Furniture, trophies, decorations, and guests. Your home reflects who you are in Gritlands. Invite other players over, display your rarest finds on the trophy shelf, and make the space yours. The penthouse especially carries social weight.
