# Tattoos: Flash Designs and Artist Series in Gritlands

Inkwell Tattoo sits in a back alley in Grit City, and it's where permanent style gets made. Unlike clothes you can swap out at home, ink stays on your skin — it becomes part of who you are in the world. That permanence is the point. Players who commit to a tattoo look are making a statement that no amount of shopping can buy: this is deliberate, this is me, and I'm not changing my mind.
## How it works
Step inside Inkwell and browse the placement grid — a map of your body showing every available spot for ink. Pick a design, pick where it lands, pay in CASH, and it's yours. You can return as many times as you like to add more pieces, building a sleeve, a chest piece, or a scattered collection of designs that tell your story over time.
Building a look this way is intentional. Most players start with one or two small pieces and add to them as they get more settled in the world — it's a record of your time in Gritlands as much as it is a style choice.
## Flash designs vs. artist series
Two tiers of design are on offer at Inkwell. They suit different budgets and different tastes, but both are worth exploring.
The wall of ready-made designs displayed at the front of the shop. Affordable, paid in CASH, and there's genuine variety — dozens of options across styles and themes. Flash is how most players start their ink journey, and there's no shame in wearing it well.
Limited original designs created by the Inkwell artist. Rarer, more expensive, and a real statement — you'll run into fewer people wearing the same piece. Paid in CASH like all ink, but the scarcity makes them sought after. These are the tattoos people notice and ask about.
## Gritlands motifs
The local flash leans hard into the world you live in. Keep an eye out for these designs on the wall at Inkwell — they're popular because they wear the Gritlands identity proudly:
* **Carp and fish-hooks** — nods to Grit Lake and the fishing culture around it

Tattoos are inked onto **you**, not onto an item — so unlike clothing or jewellery, they can't be resold, traded, or passed to another player. You pay in CASH and they're yours for keeps, unless you choose to cover them up or remove them.
Changed your mind? Cover-ups and removals are both available at Inkwell — for a fee. A cover-up places a new design over an old one; a full removal clears the slot entirely. As the sign on the wall reads: *"No refunds. Yes cover-ups."*
